Craftsman House Tour – Media Room
Okay, so this room is really meant to be a bedroom, I think. But we call it the media room because that’s where we watch TV.
Truth be told, it’s one of the rooms we spend the most time in.
The previous owner was kind enough to have had a sound system installed throughout the house and used this room as his media room. He was also kind enough to leave all of his sound equipment and TVs. Since we didn’t need it to serve as a bedroom, we just went ahead and kept it as a media room (but added a sofa bed in case we need an extra space for guests). One of its best features are the french doors that open into the back yard.
The “entertainment center” below the TV is the IKEA Expedit turned on its side with drawers added. The chairs are also from IKEA.
I got this lamp from the same person I bought my Craigslist desk. He threw it in for free.
When we moved in my Dad bought us this vintage radio. It still works!
This is the twin to the chair in the living room. We bought them on Craigslist and I reupholstered the cushions myself with clearance fabric (I think it was $7 a yard). I didn’t want to spend too much since I’d never done it before (and you can kind of tell in person–they’re a bit too loose). I’ll probably re-do the cushions in the future but for now they’re working out great. I got the pillow at an antique shop in Folsom, CA because it reminded me of the pillows in Laura and Rob Petrie’s house on the the Dick Van Dyke Show.
Oh, and that white panel covers the dog door when it’s not in use.
Next up on the tour, the master bedroom!
