This is what our living room looked like when we moved into the house in February 2011. See how we tried to make a cozy little settee out of dining room chairs? I stole that trick from Young House Love.
My name is Holly West and I love my house. I want you to love your house too.
In 2011, my husband, Mick, and I bought a craftsman home in the heart of Venice, California. Well, maybe not in the heart of Venice–I don’t know, in the spleen? Actually, I don’t even know what a spleen is. Anyway, it’s our dream house, so whatever. We share the place with two dogs, Stuart and Stella.
The house isn’t a really a fixer-upper, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done in order for us to make it our own. We paint, we build things, we eat good food, drink delicious beverages, and in general try to enjoy life as much as possible.
It’s a wickedly good life, I tell you.
This blog is our account of our home improvement triumphs, foibles, and everything in between. In my real life I’m a crime fiction writer trying to get my debut novel published, so this blog is a place where I can forgo murder and mayhem and concentrate on pretty things.
